My Alphabet Research

In room 10 we have been doing a thing called alphabet research. We choose a letter and then choose a topic that starts with that letter. For example A= Art. Once you have chosen your topic you write down what you know about it, your questions and wonderings, what you found out online and the websites you visited. you only have ten minutes to do as much as you can before we stop. Here is my favourite one that I have done.

Diagram Of A Cupcake

In room 10 we have been doing diagrams for our writing. I chose to do a cupcake. We had to make sure we labeled everything correctly and with the right names. Diagrams Include labeling the items, giving the diagram a title and you also need an image of what you are doing your diagram of. Here is my diagram.

Use your creativity to come up with 3 alternative names for this very exciting game!
The 4 nations
WW3
Knock out

Imagine another class here at HNI has not played this game before. Complete the rules below to clearly describe the aim of the game and exactly what the rules are.
Aim of the game:
Rules:
  1. You are only allowed on your bottom even when you are throwing the ball, you also have to bum shuffle to move around
  2. If you get 4 balls in your square you get a point, the group with the least points at the end of the game wins
  3. When the whistle blows you have to stop
  4. Keep the game moving fast
  5. Dodge the balls, have fast reflexes
  6. HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!

Game Adaptations
Use your creative thinking to explore possible adaptations to this game to enhance both the fun factor and the ability to win the game. I have given you one example for each category but challenge yourself with other ideas and thinking.

Attack
Defence
Game Plan/Strategy
  • Use balls other than netballs that aren’t as heavy so the speed of the travelling ball also speeds up the game.
  • Use one arm to throw, be sure to pull your arm back a bit then throw the ball to give you
            speed and power.
  • Pass the balls to the good throwers so that they can through the ball further back into another team's square.
  • 4 players from each quad are allowed to sit on the bleaches to stretch with their arms and intercept flying balls.
  • Get a defence group together and spread them out around the perimeter so that they can catch the balls and pass them back.
  • People on the perimeter of the quad pass the ball to someone closer to the bleaches to allow them to throw it further into the opponent's area.
  • Have a group of the best throwers spread out in all areas of your square so you can pass to them when you need to.

Measurement Reflection

This year I have learnt so much on measurement. I really enjoyed it to. My group Newton has been working with Mr Harman. He is such a great maths teacher and makes math learning fun! I have learnt how to convert centimetres to millimetres and metres. for example: 4cm converted to millimetres is 40ml. We even proved Mr Harman wrong so he had to do 40 clap push ups and he collapsed on the floor at the end. I have learnt so much about measurement and hope I will learn more.
